In today's post, we're celebrating Taylor Swift album release day. And y'all. The Tortured Poets Department is completely unhinged – I love it.

Hi, friends! Welcome back to another blog post.

Today was an exciting one! Because it's always an exciting day when T-Swift drops some new music. (Or, you know, a casual 31 songs at two AM.)

But today wasn't all play. Work today was busy, although it wasn’t really as busy as I thought it was going to be. I was supposed to pretty much be in back-to-back calls all day long, but a couple of my calls canceled, so that freed up my day quite a bit...

Which was good – because then I could really dedicate most of my day to listening to the Tortured Poet's Department.

At the time of writing this post, I’ve only listened to the full thirty-one song anthology one time through, but there’s definitely some stand-out songs in my opinion. Initial thoughts: I’m a big fan of Fortnight, The Tortured Poet's Department, My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys, and thanK you aIMee.

For me, the whole album was just kind of like a mix of Evermore and Lover. But, like, sad Lover

In terms of music, I definitely don’t think TTPD gives us, like, her catchiest songs ever. BUT when it comes to the actual storytelling, these are, like, some of her best. Ever.

I saw someone on Instagram say it best. The melodies are fine, but the lyrics are totally unhinged. Which is what I personally love to see.

(Another Instagram post made me laugh today, too. One that was like, "When Taylor dropped TTPD, she was like, 'Here’s thirty songs – and oh yeah. Fuck you, too, Kim Kardashian.'" Which I think pretty much sums up the album perfectly.)

Later that night, we met up with some friends in downtown Durham.

The night was super fun – and ended up going way longer than we thought.

Originally, we went out just to throw axes. But then, from axe throwing, we decided to run on over to a taproom...

And then from the taproom, we decided we wanted to go grab some martinis

So even though we were planning to be home by, like, 10:30 PM, we ended up staying up until, like, 1 AM.

At which point I immediately passed out. Because, as previously established, I Am Not Built For 3 AM Nights Any More. Or really any night later than 10:30 PM.

And that was it! That was the day. A day mostly dedicated to the queen herself, T-Swift, and her latest masterpiece, The Tortured Poet's Department, which is just completely unhinged - and I love it. (You know, with some work and friend time sprinkled in.)

And now I'm wondering: If you're a Swiftie, what are your thoughts on TTPD? Comment below and let me know!

So until tomorrow, my friends 👋🏼 And thanks for reading!
