Some Sparks Of Good Fortune •

Hi, friends! Welcome back to another blog post.

Today was a better one – although I don't know that I'd go as far as to say it was good, given the fact that one of my animals was still in emergency inpatient care. That would be a little bit of a stretch – but it was definitely been a better day than the past two.

We received a text from the overnight vet on duty pretty much first thing in the morning, saying that Simba's vitals were all looking pretty good, and he had been making steady progress overnight. And whatever test they had run to check for sepsis all came back negative, so they didn't think that was what was going on.

So that was definitely some good news to start the day with.

She also sent over a picture with her update, and we could tell from the photo that he was definitely looking perkier than he was yesterday, although he still looked absolutely pathetic, which was a little tough to see.

But then again, only twelve hours prior, I was thinking I may need to put him down if went into septic shock, so I was happy to have a pathetic cat rather than a passed away one.

But yeah, other than that, pretty much the entire day was dominated by phone calls with the vet hospital I don't need to recap in between work tasks. And by the time I got off work, we had received a couple more positive updates from the vet that everything was going well, so there was definitely a lot less stress in the house going into the evening.

We had talked about going downtown Durham for a little bit but opted to stay home. Even though we were receiving good news, I still wasn't feeling 100% like going out and interacting with the world. So we decided instead to grab some takeout, watch some more TV, and break into some of that wine we purchased from Tennessee a couple weeks ago, and it was absolutely delicious.

And yeah, that was pretty much the day. Nothing particularly eventful to report upon – but at least we had some sparks of good fortune. So I'm hopeful that things just continue getting better over these next couple days.

So until tomorrow, my friends 👋🏼 And thanks for reading!
